Diocesan Council of the CPSMA:
The function of a Diocesan Council is to administer the affairs of the CPSMA Association within a Diocese and serve as a consultative body to the Patron - Most Rev. William Crean D.D. Bishop of Cloyne. Each member of the Diocesan Council is appointed by the Patron or elected in the maner determined by the Patron.
The Diocese of Cloyne comprises 46 Parishes. These Parishes are grouped together into what are called Deaneries. There are five Deaneries in the Diocese. Each Deanery is requested to put forward names of Delegates to the Diocesan Council at Deanery Meetings. This ensures that all areas of the Diocese are represented. Currently the number of members on the Cloyne Diocesan Council is 20 inclusive of the Chairperson and Diocesan Education Secretary (Primary), both appointed by the Patron.
