How to deal with Vacancies on Boards of Management of Primary Schools
Replacement of Board Member Form - available by clicking here.

Appendix A   Teacher:
The  procedure  set  out  at  1 -9 of  this  appendix shall  be  used  to  fill  any  teacher  nominee  vacancy including a  replacement teacher nominee to fill the vacancy created by the first teacher nominee taking up the position of Acting Principal.

Appendix B    Parent:
When a vacancy occurs among parent nominees, the Board of Management having consulted with the Parents' Association may recommend to the Patron either;
  1. the co-option as a replacement of the person with the next highest number of votes from among those not elected to the Board initially, or
  2. a by-election to replace the parent nominee. It is recommended that any by-election for a parent nominee should not take place during the summer break and in any event may involve only those parents of children who are enrolled and have commenced attendance at the school at the time of such by-election.

Appendix C   Community:
In the event of a vacancy the remaining members of the Board should propose a name to the Patron for appointment using the criteria at section  4 of Appendix C within one month of the vacancy occurring.

Before any nominees can sit on a Board of Management they must first be appointed by the Patron. To do this please complete the Replacement of Board Member Form - available by clicking here.

Please return this form to Cloyne Diocesan Centre, Cobh, Co. Cork or email it to info@cloynediocese.ie
*Note: Parish Priest should sign this form in the case of Patron Nominees
It is important that the new Board member should sign the Declaration of Acceptance of Membership of the School Board of Management – Form 2.

Diocesan Council of the CPSMA:
The function of a Diocesan Council is to administer the affairs of the CPSMA Association within a Diocese and serve as a consultative body to the Patron  -   Most Rev. William Crean D.D. Bishop of Cloyne. Each member of the Diocesan Council is appointed by the Patron or elected in the maner determined by the Patron.
The Diocese of Cloyne comprises 46 Parishes. These Parishes are grouped together into what are called Deaneries. There are five Deaneries in the Diocese. Each Deanery is requested to put forward names of Delegates to the Diocesan Council at Deanery Meetings. This ensures that all areas of the Diocese are represented. Currently the number of members on the Cloyne Diocesan Council is 20 inclusive of the Chairperson and Diocesan Education Secretary (Primary), both appointed by the Patron.
